Taking Part

Come and be part of the first ever Durham Santa Stroll 2008 in aid of The Mayor’s Appeal – The County Durham Society for the Blind and Partially Sighted. This magical event takes place on Sunday 7th December 2008.

Put on your walking boots, wrap up warm and take part in this magical festive stroll starting from Durham Castle Courtyard and taking the event route along the riverbanks (enjoying the fantastic scenery) and ending back at Durham Castle.

Please note that the Durham Santa Stroll is an outdoor event and although it is mainly on public paths and pavements it may be steep at times, so please dress appropriately. The route has been designed to encourage as many people as possible to participate, however for those of you that require an Easier Access / Disabled Route, please indicate this when registering and making payment. We endeavour to make this event a wonderful experience for all involved!

How you can take part in the Durham Santa Stroll?

Adults, Children and families are welcome to take part in this wonderful event on Sunday 7th December 2008.

The entrance to this event is via the gates of Durham Castle, (located opposite Durham Cathedral - just off Palace Green). The gates will open from 10:30am for participant’s to produce Pre-registration forms to gain your FREE Adult Santa Suit’s and/or Reindeer Antler’s for Children. After making way into Durham Castle Courtyard, at 11:00am Radio Presenter Peter Grant from Durham FM will welcome participant’s to the event, after a short introduction participant’s will have the chance to take part in a mass Body Jam workshop by Durham City Leisure before the event is officially opened by The Right Worshipful the Mayor of Durham, Councillor Grenville Holland and ‘surprise guests’.

In order to take part in this event, please pre-register and make payment by clicking here or you can collect and drop off your forms and payment to Tourist Information Centre, 2 Millennium Place, Durham DH11WA.

Please note: Participant’s pre-registering on-line with automatically receive a Payment Confirmation Receipt from PayPal, to bring along on the day to produce as evidence of payment to gain entry into the Durham Castle Grounds. Those participant’s downloading a Registration Form to return by post and/or returning by hand to the Tourist Information Centre, will need to copy their registration form to bring along on the day. We will require proof of registration in order for any participant to take part in this event.
